MONSIGNORE
ALTA LANGA DOCG
VICOFORTE
UN’ALTA LANGA DI CONFINE,
MONSIGNORE
A FRONTIER OF THE ALTA LANGA,
MONSIGNORE
Nestled in Vicoforte, on the southern edge of the Langhe, Monsignore is a pioneering project devoted to the effervescent rebirth of the Alta Langa.
Since 1916 the Blengini family has safeguarded this historic summer residence, originally built for the Bishop of Mondovì. For a century the estate embodied prestige, silence and contemplation.
The current generation turned that legacy into a contemporary viticultural vision. Set at around 600 metres above sea level, the estate sits between the Monviso mountains and the maritime influence, shaping a striking landscape that long remained outside the most familiar wine narrative.
A MEETING OF TWO WORLDS
The modern chapter of Monsignore began with the shared life and intention of Giuseppe Blengini and Roberta Ceretto.
Giuseppe brings rigour, structure and an almost architectural approach to the land. Roberta adds experience, instinct and a deep understanding of terroir. Since 2010 they have chosen to invest in Alta Langa while neighbouring areas were still defined mainly by great reds.
Here they recognised a different energy: altitude, wind, demanding soils, an exacting agriculture and a landscape still largely untouched by convention. Monsignore grows from that balance between precision and intuition.
MAESTRIA E SINERGIA
ARTISTRY AND COLLABORATION
Convinced that great wine is shaped by the human factor, Roberta and Giuseppe brought together agronomists and oenologists to follow the estate’s 100 hectares, 15 of which are devoted to Alta Langa grapes: Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
Since 2019 the project has expanded to include a small network of growers in Canelli, Santo Stefano Belbo, Trezzo Tinella and Bossolasco, all guided by a rigorous protocol designed to balance elegance, structure and stylistic precision.
Monsignore is a vintage Metodo Classico aged 30 months on the lees, with separate vinifications. In the glass it combines fine perlage, freshness, texture and a creamy depth that joins the verticality of altitude with the patience of cellar time.
L’ETICHETTA
THE LABEL
Our shared passion for art led us to commission the Monsignore label to Francesco Clemente. The Spartan helmet, a symbol of courage, loyalty and strength, became the visual mark of a high-altitude project built with conviction.
It brings together family memory, a classical reference and the desire to shape a clear identity, recognisable and distinct from the usual celebratory codes of wine.
